Calm Your OCD

If you suffer with compulsive cleaning or checking or tidying or obsessive thought patterns, you’ll be glad to know you can calm your OCD. Your repetitive thoughts or behaviors stem from your mind not liking some even or period of time where things seemed outside your control. Your inner mind then came up up a strategy and said “well if I can’t control this, at least I can control that”.

Now of course, anyone who hasn’t got OCD looks at the person who is, for instance, frantically cleaning and wondering how that could be calming and relaxing. The off thing is that to the person who has OCD, that is actually their way of calming themselves. If you are the partner of someone with OCD, do not try to stop them doing their repetitive behaviour. Instead, find a good cognitive behavioural therapist who specialises in OCD.

Stress triggers or exacerbates OCD. Your aim, if you have OCD, is not to get stressed. You have to let things go quickly. You may need to tell yourself that certain things or people’s opinions just don’t matter.

Self hypnosis audios can help you maintain a relaxed state, let go of unimportant things and help you by visualising yourself free of the problem.
