What Is Compulsive Cleaning Disorder?

If you’ve ever wondered what is compulsive cleaning disorder, it is one of the spectrum of OCD ritualistic behaviors. If you have this disorder, you probably have a deep-seated fear of getting sick because of germs or dirt.

As with all forms of OCD, the particular behavior is the individuals way of controlling something in their environment. At some stage in the persons past, they became sensitized to the idea of something being outside of their control. A common cause of OCD would be, for instance, having alcoholic parents and witnessing haphazard behaviours that you didn’t like. In this example, the parents behavior might seem to be out of control which then causes the child to seek things they can control. In the case of compulsive cleaning, that is having control over cleaning.

Self hypnosis can help a person with OCD relax more and, of course, if you are more relaxed, then there is less need to indulge in a ritualistic behavior which is designed to relax you.
