Therapy For Anger Management

Most therapy for anger management focusses on helping the client recognise triggers. You’ll also decide upon a different response to them. In many cases, people have no idea what triggers them. My job, as a therapist, is to connect the dots between the current trigger today and some past event or person. This might be where the original emotional response started.

For instance, let’s say your father had a very authoritarian way of speaking to you that made you feel really mad when you were a kid. You might find that people trying to boss you around today in a very authoritarian way might trigger the same automatic feelings. In many cases, it might never occur to you that it’s connected with your childhood.

When we understand the origins of the emotional response, we can then separate the two events. You are then free to have a different response today. You’ll find that you can relax more with the help of a self hypnosis audio. You can identify your triggers and separate them from any originating event in the past. You’ll be encouraged to form a better response today. You’ll also find that by practicing that new response every day, the new response becomes your new default.
